Sights
The oldest is the Roman-Catholic, originally gothic church, which was built on Roman foundation. In spite of the rebuildings in the 18th century it preserved the gothic signs, which are effects of the dom in Kassa.
The reformed church was built in baroque style in 1752. The evangelical church was built in plait style in 1798. The Greek-Catholic church was built at the beginning of the 19th century, its altar screen was made in 1798.
The church of Jewry is still standing. Some house on the main street preserves the atmosphere of the market-town of the 18th-19th centuries.
A collection about the history of this place can be seen in the rooms of the Ulanus- or Kapitany-house. The curiosity of the building with classicistic facade is a deep fount in its cellar.
In the northeastern part of the town, in Cekeháza can be found the castle of the Patay family from the 1820's in classicistic style.
To the great son of the town - to dr. Kálmán Kalocsay doctor, experantist - was put up a statue in the centre of the town.
Abaújszántó belonges to the wine-district of Mountain Tokaj so it is part of the world heritage.
Its row of cellars wait for the lover of quality wines.
From the town we can go on well trips to the untouched landscapes of the Mountain Zemplén, in the Aranyos-valley or in the Mount Sátor and Mount Krakkó.
